Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev could not fully explain why he lost to world number one Jannik Sinner of Italy in the quarterfinals of the US Open. His words are quoted from The Tennis Letter on the X social network.
“In tennis, sometimes you don’t know exactly why. I mean, it could be anything. I mean, he played well. Maybe it was his ball, his shot. It could be anything. I don’t have an answer yet for exactly why it happened and I probably won’t,” he said.
The match, which lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes, ended in four sets, with the score 6:2, 1:6, 6:1, 6:4 in Sinner’s favor. The Italian completed four serves in a row, made one double fault and converted five break points out of 15. Medvedev had five aces, six double faults and two break points out of eight.
