Former Spartak Moscow player Maxim Demenko said in a conversation with socialbites.ca that it is now difficult to say how the pause in the Russian Premier League (RPL) will affect the red-whites.
“It is difficult to say now how the pause in the championship will affect Spartak. Maybe it will turn out positively. It is one thing when a coach works with all the players. It is another thing when half of the team leaves. It often happens that players come from the national team with positive emotions, but it also happens the other way around. This can be assessed after several rounds of the RPL, which will take place in September,” Demenko said.
After seven rounds, Zenit returned to first place in the RPL with 17 points. Second and third are Krasnodar and Moscow Lokomotiv with 15 points each, while Spartak is fourth with 14 points, with the capital Dynamo and CSKA one point behind.
In the last Russian Championship, Spartak lost in the first round. The red-whites then lost to Orenburg with a score of 0-2.
Previously named main favorite RPL.
