Midfielder and one of the leaders of the media football club Amkal, Vasily Mavrin, commented to socialbites.ca that another media giant “2DROTS” could not repeat last season’s success and did not even make it to the third round of the Russian Cup Regions’ Way.
“According to Drots, the team’s situation in general does not seem to be very comfortable. That is, they have come to a period of existence where some perestroika moments are needed. This is a normal story, Amkal went through it. There is nothing wrong with that. That is, they have time, they have budget, they have people. Let’s see what comes out of it,” says Mavrin.
A year ago, 2DROTS set the current best performance in terms of media teams in the Russian Cup, advancing three rounds and playing in the fourth place with the First League club Khimki. In the current draw, Dmitry Kuznetsov’s team was eliminated in the second match against Spartak Kostroma (0:1). This year, only Amkal advanced to the third round and will compete with Kosmos from Dolgoprudny, playing in the Second League B, on September 4.
