The famous former domestic football player Maxim Demenko, who played for St. Petersburg Zenit and Moscow Spartak during his professional career, spoke to socialbites.ca about the rivals of these clubs in the Russian Premier League and the work of the red-whites with the new head coach Dejan Stankovic.

“If you look at it now, Spartak is probably getting closer to Zenit. We see this especially in the recruitment of all the players who strengthen the teams. How did Barko join the team? Of course, this is a plus for Stankovic. He was a top-level player and he joined Spartak Moscow right away, as if he had been working here for many years. It is clear that he has only developed his own style of play, but the team under his management has changed significantly. We see the team celebrating the goals scored. He really has the best players and he chooses the players he sees and knows,” Demenko says.

After seven rounds, Zenit is in first place in the RPL with 17 points. Spartak is in fourth place with 14 points.

Previously was named The main favourite in the RPL.
