Champions League draw results announced 00:36

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) held the Champions League general stage draw in Monaco with the participation of 36 teams. He writes about this RBC.

The tournament will be held according to the new formula. The draw also had a new format.

The new format of the tournament has increased the number of teams in the group stage; there are now 36 instead of 32. They will be divided into baskets according to the UEFA coefficient. Each team will play two matches against a representative from each of the four lower groups, with places from first to eighth coming directly from the general group stage table. Teams placed 9th to 24th will play in play-offs for further qualification to the tournament – the losers in these pairs will continue to qualify for the Europa League. Teams placed 25th to 36th are eliminated from the European cups.

The current champions will play against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Milan, Atalanta, Salzburg, Lille, Stuttgart and Brest.

In the general stage, Manchester City will face PSG and Juventus on the field. Barcelona will face Borussia, Bayern and Monaco, where Russian footballer Alexander Golovin plays.
