French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris have been declared open.
The opening ceremony is held in the Champs Elysees in the capital of France.
Before that It became clearThe French government has reportedly refused to grant visas to two athletes from Russia who were planning to participate in the Summer Paralympics.
On August 20, the first group of Russians left for Paris for the 2024 Paralympic Games.
A total of 48 track and field athletes, 35 swimmers, two taekwondo athletes, two triathletes and five table tennis athletes have applied for the Paralympic Games. On August 14, International Paralympic Committee communications director Craig Spence announced that 90 applications had been approved.
On March 6, the International Paralympic Committee published criteria for Russian Paralympic athletes to be allowed to compete at the Games only with neutral status. Russian athletes will not be able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies, and their medals will not count towards the standings.
