Former goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky believes that the main rivals for the championship in the Russian Premier League (RPL) are Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg. The former football player is quoted as saying “Match TV”.
After five rounds, Zenit leads the RPL WORLD table with 13 points. Dinamo is in second place (12 points).
“Yes, Dynamo and Zenit. Unfortunately, Krasnodar is currently in an unstable position. “I hope that both CSKA and Krasnodar will join this intrigue race,” Berezovsky said.
Zenit leads the RPL standings with 13 points from five rounds, while Spartak is three points behind in fourth place. The head-to-head clash between these teams will take place in St. Petersburg on Saturday, August 24, starting at 17:30 Moscow time.
In the fifth round, Spartak beat Fakel 3-0 at home, and Zenit drew 1:1 with Khimki away. In this match, the blue-white-navy attacking midfielder Maxim Glushenkov was injured – the ball hit his hand and the player was later diagnosed with a fracture. He underwent surgery and will be out indefinitely; he will miss the match against Spartak. Also, Brazilian Zenit midfielder Wendel will not be able to play against the Muscovites due to injury.
