“A total of 98 neutral athletes will compete at the Paralympic Games in Paris: 90 from Russia (excluding the leading ones) and 8 from Belarus. The IPC accepted the applications of these 90 athletes and now the Paralympic Organising Committee is responsible for their accreditation,” he said.
Earlier on August 14, the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), Pavel Rozhkov, told TASS in an interview statedThe organization stated that 85 of the 92 athletes participating in the Games received accreditation. 48 track and field athletes, 35 swimmers, 2 taekwondo representatives, 2 triathletes and 5 table tennis athletes applied for the Paralympic Games.
On March 6, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) published criteria under which Russian Paralympic athletes would be allowed to compete at the Games only with neutral status. Russian athletes will not be able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies, and their medals will not count towards the standings.
