Dutch runner achieves unprecedented success at the Olympics 14:16

Dutch runner Sifan Hassan became the first runner to win Olympic gold over three furlongs.

The athlete became the Olympic champion in the marathon on August 11 with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes 55 seconds. She set an Olympic record for this distance. The previous success belonged to Ethiopian Tiki Gelane at the 2012 Olympics (2 hours 23 minutes 7 seconds).

Hasan is also an Olympic champion in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races. He won these distances at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Hasan won bronze medals in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races at the Paris Games.

Former Russian Sardana Trofimova, who now represents Kyrgyzstan, competed in the marathon at the Paris Olympics. She finished 14th, breaking the Kyrgyz national record, covering the distance in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 47 seconds. It is worth noting that Trofimova was ahead of current Olympic champion and world record holder Perez Jepchirchir of Kenya in Paris.
