Ovechkin announces the club he wants to play for in his farewell match 11:21

Alexander Ovechkin, forward and captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington club, said he wants to play a farewell match for Dynamo Moscow. RIA Novosti.

“I’m not looking that far ahead. I have two more years on my NHL contract. “Of course, I want to play my last game in the Dynamo jersey, where I started my career,” Ovechkin said.

Ovechkin is a graduate of Dynamo Moscow. He played for the blue-whites between 2001-2005 and in the 2012/13 season.

Ovechkin played in 79 regular season games in his last NHL season, scoring 31 goals and making 34 assists, and playing in four playoff games. The Canadian continues to follow Wayne Gretzky’s sharpshooting record. Ovechkin is second in the Canadian’s all-time career, 41 goals behind him; the Russian currently has 853 goals scored.

In the first round of the 2023/24 NHL playoffs, the Washington Capitals faced the New York Rangers, which included Russian hockey players goaltender Igor Shesterkin and forward Artemy Panarin. The Capitals did not win a single game and lost the series 0-4. Ovechkin did not score in these games.
