Japanese athlete Ami “AMI” Yuasa became the first Olympic champion in breaking the discipline.
In the final fight, 25-year-old Japanese b-girl under the pseudonym “NICKA” defeated 17-year-old Lithuanian representative Dominika Banevich with a score of 3:0 (6:3, 5:4, 5:4).
The third place in this discipline was taken by the Chinese Liu “671” Qingyi, who turned out to be stronger than the Indian “INDIA” Sarjo with a score of 2:1 (6:3, 9:0, 4:5).
Breaking is set to debut as a new sport at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Olympic Games began on July 26, with competitions continuing until August 11.
Following the start of Russia’s SVO in Ukraine, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes and recommended that Federations not allow athletes from these countries to participate in international competitions. In December 2023, the IOC allowed athletes from Russia to participate in the 2024 Olympics, but only with neutral status and subject to a number of necessary conditions.
