Russian canoeist Zakhar Petrov failed to win a medal in the 1000-meter single canoe competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
In the final race, the Russian athlete showed the fourth result.
In the semifinal round, Petrov showed the third result.
On August 8, Petrov, paired with Alexei Korovashkov, failed to win a medal in the 500-meter two-man canoeing event. In the final race, the Russians also finished fourth.
In the qualifying round held on August 6, Petrov and Korovashkov finished first, half a second ahead of their nearest rivals from Italy. They also finished first in the semi-final round.
The International Olympic Committee, which suspended Russia and Belarus in February 2022 due to the start of the SVO at the end of 2023, decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes for the 2024 Summer Olympics. In order to participate, they had to meet a number of conditions and qualify.
