Team USA advances to finals in basketball Olympics with +17 win in last quarter 08/08/2024, 23:56

The USA men’s basketball team advanced to the finals of the Paris Olympic Basketball Tournament with a +17 lead in the final quarter.

In the semi-final match, they defeated the Serbian team with a score of 95:91 (23:31, 20:23, 20:22, 32:15). The most productive player of the meeting was the National Basketball Association (NBA) Golden State Warriors and US national team point guard Stephen Curry, who scored 36 points and made 9/14 three-pointers.

39-year-old Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

In the final, Steve Kerr’s team will face France, who beat world champions Germany 73:69. The match will be played on August 10.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games at the end of 2023. To participate, they had to meet a number of conditions and qualify.
