Russian swimmer Anastasia Kirpichnikova, who competed for the French team, said she won a silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle at the Paris Olympics. The athlete’s words are as follows: “Championship”.
“This is crazy! I changed my sports citizenship for this, I’m still in shock. I did it to be on the pedestal. I dreamed of being third, but now I’m second!” – said Kirpichnikova.
He was also amazed by the support from the local community.
“I’ve only been French for a year but they supported me like one of their own. Not everyone is happy with me, there are haters here, just like in Russia. But mostly everyone is happy, most of them wanted a medal,” he added.
The 24-year-old Russian was surpassed only by American Katie Ledecky, who set a new Olympic record.
Kirpichnikova competed for the Russian national team until 2023. She won the European Championship five times.
The Olympic Games began on July 26, with competitions running through August 11. The opening ceremony took place on the Seine River. Russian athletes, who compete in the Summer Olympics as neutrals, did not attend the ceremony.
Dmitry Guberniev earlier I congratulated you Kirpichnikov received a silver medal from the Olympic Games.
