Although Méndez’s team had to make an epic call to win the first game against China by just 1 point and in overtime, this time Spain took a 15-point lead and suffered until the last second to add its second victory, and only by 1 point (63-62). The match had two sides; one in which Spain dominated and seemed to lead the match to a peaceful victory, and the other in which the scenario changed radically after the break and turned into a duel that ended with just 1 second left. The victory was given to Méndez’s team thanks to the success of Laura Gil in the last two free throws.
