“The French representatives said in their presentation to the IOC members that they will purify the water of the Seine River. It is not true that they will not be prosecuted for an order that was not fulfilled. They spent a lot of money on this. But in the end they embarrassed their country,” Zhurova said.
It was learned that the triathlon competition, which was supposed to be held on July 30, was postponed by one day. It was noted that the water will be tested for compliance with the swimming thresholds determined by World Triathlon before each swim.
On July 28 and 29, Olympic organizers cancelled triathletes’ training swims in the Seine River due to deteriorating water quality following heavy rains.
The Olympic Games began on July 26, with competitions lasting until August 11. The opening ceremony took place on the Seine River on the 26th. Russian athletes, who are participating in the Summer Olympics as neutrals, did not attend the ceremony.
