The reason for the conflict was revealed, why Karpin did not call Glushenkov to the Russian national team 10:00

Commentator Dmitry Shnyakin on the podcast “Championata.com” “Injustice Premier League” said that Russian specialist Valery Karpin and Zenit St. Petersburg player Maxim Glushenkov had a disagreement, which is why the player did not receive a call-up to the Russian national team.

“There was a disagreement between Glushenkov and Karpin in the national team. At the end of the friendly match, Karpin made it clear to Glushenkov: Change your clothes, go outside. But Glushenkov made it clear that he would not do this. I don’t know with what expression. Like, why go outside at the end,” Shnyakin said.

Glushenkov moved from Lokomotiv to Zenit this summer. He scored four goals in two matches with the new team – Maxim scored a double against Krasnodar in the Super Cup match (4:2), and then helped the blue-white-blues beat Krylya Sovetov 4:0 in the first round of the new Russian Premier League (RPL). Glushenkov’s contract with Zenit runs until the summer of 2028.

Karpin has been coaching the Russian national team since 2021, combining this position with work in Rostov. The national team, like Russian clubs, is suspended from international tournaments.
