Forward Alexander Sobolev’s future at Spartak Moscow depends on whether he wants to continue playing for the red-whites, former Spartak and CSKA player Valery Masalitin told socialbites.ca.

“The main thing is his desire. Why does Spartak need him if he does not agree with the club’s policy? He had an excellent connection with Promes, the most productive after the duo of Azmun and Dzyuba at Zenit. Sobolev and Promes scored and passed, and brought a lot of benefits to the team.

We do not know who is responsible for the recent events – Sobolev, [бывший главный тренер «Спартака» Гильермо] “Abaskal, the management… But the scandals have not yet brought Spartak to a good point. If Sobolev stays, he needs to be a leader both on and off the field. And if he doesn’t want to play, he will serve his sentence and get paid. Or sit on the bench. If he accepts the terms offered to him, then he should work, return to the national team and become Spartak’s top scorer,” he said.

Sobolev has been playing for Spartak since 2020. In total, he played 139 matches for the team, scoring 58 goals and making 32 assists. His contract with the club runs until the summer of 2026.

In the completed season of the Russian Championship, Sobolev played 27 matches and scored five goals. He was reportedly close to a transfer to Zenit this off-season, but Spartak increased the player’s price at the last minute and the St. Petersburg club rejected the transfer.

Formerly Agent Gurtskaya connected Sobolev’s desire to leave Spartak in humiliation.
