Russian figure skater Sofia Samodelkina won the Kazakhstan championship due to health problems. This was reported by TASS with source reference.
“Sofia Samodelkina took part in the Kazakhstan Championship due to problems with her ankle,” the source said.
The 17-year-old figure skater, who trains with two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, scored 161.43 points in two programs.
Samodelkina changed her sports citizenship to Kazakhstan in the summer of 2023, and officially joined the Kazakhstan national team in the summer of 2024. Accordingly, this start was the first after the quarantine, which is mandatory when changing citizenship.
At the 2022 Russian Grand Prix in Samara, Samodelkina won the short and free programs ahead of Olympic medalists Alexandra Trusova and Ksenia Gushchina.
