Figure skater Diana Davis, who skated in pairs with Gleb Smolkin, posted on Instagram (the owner of the Meta company is known as an extremist in Russia and is banned) a clip of unsuccessful and funny moments from training.
During one of the skates, Smolkin ran through the skater’s hair and cut off the tip of her hair with a knife.
At the European Championships in Lithuania in January 2024, Davis and Smolkin finished in eighth place. The winners were Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri.
After the Beijing Olympics, Davis and Smolkin lived and trained in the United States. The couple changed their citizenship in the summer of 2023. Now the athletes represent the Georgian national team. They won the Ice Dance International tournament in Lake Placid, USA, in early August.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) called on international sports federations to recommend that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. For this reason, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended athletes from both countries from competitions.
