German police have arrested four men in connection with an alleged attempt to blackmail the family of legendary Formula One driver Michael Schumacher. Photograph.
The latest detainee was previously employed by the racer’s family’s security service. His duties included digitizing private photos of the racer and his loved ones, as well as passing on information to accomplices. The blackmailers demanded a total of 15 million euros from the Schumacher family.
Michael Schumacher is a seven-time Formula One world champion. He suffered a serious head injury while skiing in December 2013. The most recent reports from Schumacher family members about his health date back to September 2021. A documentary about the racer was then released on Netflix, in which relatives reported that he was unable to move or communicate independently.
The current Formula 1 champion is Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. The driver is a three-time Formula 1 world champion (2021, 2022 and 2023). He holds the records for most wins in a season and most consecutive Formula 1 Grand Prix victories.
