Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky’s manager, Alexander Chernykh, spoke harshly about the fact that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) did not include Russian players (Bobrovsky himself, Vladimir Tarasenko and Dmitry Kulikov) in its article about the Florida Panthers’ victory in the Stanley Cup. His words guide the way “Sports Express”.
“Perhaps an unhealthy person wrote this article. The important thing is that everyone recognizes the work of our hockey players. If there are one or two people, God bless you, it’s not a problem. Seven does not wait for one. Still, the names of Russian hockey players will appear everywhere,” Chernykh said.
For Bobrovsky and Kulikov, the Stanley Cup was the first in their careers; Tarasenko previously won this trophy against St. Petersburg in 2019. He won it with the St. Louis Blues.
Florida Panthers played against Edmonton Oilers in the finals of the National Hockey League (NHL) play-offs. In the final match, all seven matches were played. Florida initially took a 3-0 lead in the series, but then lost three straight games. Panthers won the seventh game, played at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, USA, with a score of 2:1.
For Florida, this was the first Stanley Cup in club history. Thus, Bobrovsky, Tarasenko and Kulikov became the first Russian hockey players in Florida history to win the Stanley Cup.
Previously in the USA deployed Russian flag after Florida’s victory in the Stanley Cup.
