Members of the US Senate appealed to Witold Banke, head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), regarding the doping scandal with Chinese swimmers and pointed out that equal conditions should be created at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
“As a result, the Russian figure skater’s result at the 2022 Winter Olympics was annulled and she was disqualified for four years. “Meanwhile, most of the Chinese swimmers who tested positive for trimetazidine before the 2021 Games are expected to compete in Paris this summer.”
It was learned that many Chinese swimmers were doping in 2024, but were allowed to participate in the 2020 Games held in 2021. On April 22, WADA general counsel Ross Wenzel said that a doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva found 2.1 nanograms of the banned substance per milliliter, and that the concentration was much lower in Chinese athletes, so the results of the cases were different.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found Valieva guilty of doping and disqualified the athlete. He will not be able to compete in tournaments until December 2025. He also can’t practice at state skating rinks.
On February 7, CAS issued a rationale for Valieva’s case. In addition to the banned trimetazidine, three permitted substances were found in the skater’s blood. These are more than 50 supplements with ecdysterone, hypoxene and L-carnitine.
Previously Valieva starry in a barbecue commercial.
