Russian journalist Dmitry Guberniev said there was no need to compare the competition in the Olympics and BRICS Games. metaratings.ru.

“We won’t even compare the competition to the Olympic Games. This is clear to everyone. But the main thing was to fill in the athletes. There are some strong competitors from abroad, but overall the competition is weak,” Guberniev said.

The BRICS Games will be held in Kazan from 12 to 23 June. Athletes from more than 90 countries will participate in the tournament.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. At the end of 2023, the organization decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes, subject to certain conditions, including the preservation of the neutral status of athletes.
