Olympic figure skating champion Anna Shcherbakova does not have a relationship and does not communicate with the player of the Paris Nizhny Novgorod football club Maxim Shnaptsev. The athlete himself announced this on social networks.

The relationship between the athletes was revealed in the early hours of Friday, June 14. Shnaptsev himself neither confirmed nor denied this information. However, Shcherbakova firmly stated that none of what was published was true, and condemned Shnaptsev for deciding to attract attention thanks to his name.

“I never talked about my personal life. But unfortunately, fake news came out today that I do not have a serious relationship and that I am in a relationship with a person we have not communicated with for a long time. It’s a shame that this person decided to draw attention to himself in this way,” Shcherbakova wrote on Instagram (the owner of the company Meta is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).

Shcherbakova did not announce the end of her professional career, but did not participate in the competitions of the 2023/24 season. She announced that she recovered from injury at the end of 2022 and performed in ice shows.

Shcherbakova won the gold medal in single skating at the Beijing Olympic Games, ahead of her compatriot Alexandra Trusova and Japanese athlete Kaori Sakamoto.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

The last international tournament for Russian figure skaters was the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Previously Shcherbakova stopped cooperation with coach Tutberidze.
