Striker Artem Dzyuba, whose contract expires on June 30, 2024, posted on his Instagram account (the owner of the Meta company is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia) a photo from Shanghai, where Leonid Slutsky’s Shanghai Shenhua club is based.
35-year-old Dzyuba played in 26 matches in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, scoring 4 goals and making 4 assists. At the end of the season, Lokomotiv ranked fourth in the Russian Premier League (RPL) by collecting 53 points.
Dzyuba moved to the Moscow club in February 2023. The striker was without a team for several months after the termination of his contract with Turkish club Adana Demirspor, before moving to the Moscow team.
Slutsky took charge of Chinese Shanghai Shenhua in December 2023. Under his leadership, the team has played 15 official matches so far and has not suffered a single defeat in these matches.
Before China, Slutsky’s last place of work was Rubin Kazan. Under his leadership, the team took the penultimate place in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2021/22 season and was relegated to the First League.
Slutsky is also known for his work at CSKA Moscow. He led the team to the RPL title three times, won the domestic Cup and the Super Cup twice.
Previously “Shanghai” by Slutsky elongated Unbeaten streak of up to 15 matches.
