Russian athletes will be able to participate in the Olympics in Paris without fear of breaking the law, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said Interfax.
“All Russian sports federations made independent decisions on participation in the Olympics. “Our athletes will be able to compete in the Olympics on an individual and neutral basis,” said Chernyshenko.
Chernyshenko also noted that Russian athletes received 49 licenses in seven sports.
At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. However, in December, the IOC allowed Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympics with neutral status. The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
