Margarita Mamun, Olympic champion of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and seven-time world champion in rhythmic gymnastics, in an interview on her YouTube channel “Vitya Kravchenko” He told how his coach harassed him.
The gymnast said she was training with a man. Mamun recalled how she and a few other girls went to the movies with him and he was able to put his hand on the knee of the athlete sitting next to him.
“He did different things but in my case it didn’t lead to the worst. These sittings on the knees and foot massages are already beyond the permissible level. I was completely paralyzed. I realized it was wrong, I was uncomfortable but I couldn’t do anything,” said Mamun.
Mamun is a four-time European champion (2013, 2015), four-time champion of the Universiade in Kazan (2013), champion of the 1st European Games 2015 in Baku, multiple winner of the Grand Prix and World Cup stages. The gymnast announced her retirement from her professional career on November 4, 2017.
Mamun is married to swimmer Alexander Sukhorukov. They are raising a son named Leo.
