On Victory Day, May 9, Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov posted a photo with a St. George ribbon on her social networks, for which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) filed a complaint against the athlete. This was reported by “Championship.com”.
Some people were outraged by such a publication and demanded that Khachanov be excluded from participation in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
It is worth noting that the St. George ribbon is a symbol prohibited under the conditions of admission of the International Olympic Committee to Russian athletes.
On March 6, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that it has decided to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to compete in neutral status at the 2024 Summer Olympics in France. Russians and Belarusians will be able to compete in the 2024 Olympics if they comply with the neutral athlete principles previously formulated by the International Olympic Committee.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place between July 26 and August 11, 2024.
