Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) President Mikhail Mamiashvili spoke critically about the failure of Ukrainian representatives to perform in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifying tournament. His words guide the way RIA News.
“Today, all the flowers of the world struggle are gathered here in Istanbul. From Russia, USA, Iran, leading countries of Africa and Asia. But there is no Ukraine, they isolated themselves from the entire wrestling world. Why? Apparently they were instructed to do so. Unfortunately, they excluded themselves from the world wrestling community,” said Mamiashvili.
The world Olympic qualifying tournament in wrestling, according to the results of which Paris tickets will be distributed, will be held in Turkey between 9-12 May.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. However, in December, the IOC allowed Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympics with neutral status. The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
