Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova evaluated the scandal that arose due to the fact that the head coach of the Krasnoyarsk “Yenisei” Andrei Tikhonov spoke critically about the work of referee Vera Opeikina. His words lead the way Sports24.
“I know love and hate, but I don’t know sexism. There are traditions and they should not be broken. It has never happened before that a woman has refereed matches between men’s teams. Has this referee ever played on a football team? Traditionally this is not the case. I think anything is possible in the world, but I would support tradition. “There is no tradition of women in football,” Tarasova said.
Tikhonov had previously stated that Opeikina made many mistakes in the Yenisei match against SKA-Khabarovsk and should be sent to Makhachkala. Because of this statement, the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU KDK) initially punished the specialist with a five-match disqualification (two matches were postponed).
On May 7, Tikhonov’s sentence was commuted. The disqualification now applies to one match the specialist has already missed, and four more games have been postponed. Thus, Tikhonov will be able to lead the team from the bench in the match against KAMAZ on May 8 in the 24th round of the First League.
Having collected 41 points after 30 rounds, Enisey shares the ninth place in the rankings with SKA-Khabarovsk and Yaroslavl Shinnik. Khimki is the leader in the First League (57 points). Second place Dinamo Makhachkala is two points short. Akron from Togliatti closed the top three (50 points, match in reserve).
Previously Enisey coach briefly explained Emotions arising from the commutation of the punishment of those who criticized the female referee.
