Matytsin: We must respect those who earned the right to compete in the Olympics 04/05/2024, 23:34

Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin called for respect for athletes who earned the right to compete in the Paris Olympics Sports24.

“We are one sports family. In this difficult time, it is necessary to unite and respect those who, through their hard work, earned the right to compete in the Olympics,” Matytsin said.

President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov stated That Russian tennis players who will perform at the Games in Paris should be called a team of foreign managers.

In early March, it was reported that Russians and Belarusians could compete in the 2024 Olympics if they comply with the neutral athlete principles previously formulated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Paris Olympic Games will start at the end of July 2024.

At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, it was proposed to allow the Russians to maintain neutral status if their athletes do not take an active part in supporting military operations.
