Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White described how he once spent several million euros gambling in Rio de Janeiro.
“I drink, I have fun, and I end up going home without my $80,000. When I woke up, I thought: ‘Damn, these bastards took my $80,000 yesterday.’ I was at work, the manager called me and said, “Dana, are you coming back? Do you still need an apartment? I said, ‘No, but relax with my fucking 80 grand, I’ll be back for it,’” White said on Lex Friedman’s podcast. “You lost 3 million dollars yesterday,” he said.
During his tenure as UFC President, White played a key role in the development and expansion of MMA in the United States and around the world. He took on this position in 2001.
In March 2019, White signed a new seven-year deal with the UFC. It currently owns 10% of Zuffa, which was established as the parent company of the UFC. In 2023, the promotion merged with wrestling promotion WWE.
