Former coach of Spartak Moscow, Valery Gladilin, said in an interview with socialbites.ca that the Georgian national team, which qualified for the 2024 European Championship in Germany, is capable of competing to participate in the play-offs.
According to him, the team led by Willy Sagnol is in a group where they can compete with any opponent.
“They can set themselves all kinds of tasks, their hands are now free, they have already achieved great results. Georgia is a good team, they don’t have super teams in the group, everyone can beat everyone, so you have a chance to get out of the group, you can compete. However, even if they are not successful, if they play a quality and solid game, it will already be a success for them,” said Gladilin.
On March 26, Georgia defeated Greece in the European Championship Path C final qualifying match. Normal time and extra time ended in a 0:0 draw. Georgians were more accurate in penalty shoot-outs.
The final of EURO 2024 will be held in Germany between 14 June and 14 July. 24 teams will compete in the group stage of the tournament. Georgia will play against Portugal, Czech Republic and Turkey in the European Championship.
