Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals against the Winnipeg Jets in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match.
Ovechkin’s first goal was initially attributed to his teammate, forward Connor McMichael, due to the hockey players shooting the puck at the same time, but was later attributed to the Russian player.
The Russian player scored in the 44th and 53rd minutes of the match. The game still continues, Washington is ahead – 3:0.
Ovechkin scored 26 goals in 67 regular season games this season. He also made 32 assists.
On March 23, Ovechkin scored a goal and an assist against the Carolina Hurricanes in a National Hockey League regular season game.
The Russian forward continues to break Canada’s Wayne Gretzky’s sniping record. The Canadian hockey player scored 894 goals during his NHL career and tops the list of the best snipers in league history. Ovechkin sits second, 46 goals behind Gretzky; The Russian player currently has 848 goals.
