Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery stated that the suspension of the NHL All-Star Game benefited the team’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin. His words are quoted RMNB.
“After the All-Star break, he became more competitive, increased his attention to detail when playing without the puck, increased his influence on the bench and in the locker room, trying to get players to do the right things and win games.
He has been doing this for a long time, 19 years, and he knows now is his time to shine and take his game to a high level with the whole team as our captain,” Carbery said.
On March 21, Alexander Ovechkin scored a double in the match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but his team lost with a score of 3:7. The Russian player scored seven goals in the last three matches.
Ovechkin played in a total of 65 matches this season, scoring 23 goals and making 31 assists. In the match against the Florida Panthers on February 25, the Russian forward played his 1,400th NHL game.
