During a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game, Russian Anaheim hockey player Pavel Mintyukov participated in a mass brawl against Chicago players.
The fight took place in the eighth minute of the match. At least eight players participated in the fight. Mintyukov received a 2-minute penalty for participating in the fight.
Chicago won with a score of 7:2.
Anaheim sits 14th in the Western Conference standings with 49 points. Chicago ranks 15th with 41 points.
Mintyukov was selected 10th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. In July 2023, the team signed him to a three-year entry-level contract. In May 2023, Mintyukov, then playing for the Ottawa 67s, won the Max Kaminsky Award, given annually to the best defenseman in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
The Russian went to America at the age of 16. As the defenseman himself stated, he thought that moving to Ontario would be a better option for him than playing in the Junior Hockey League (MHL). The player also talked about his meeting with Roman Rotenberg, who did not give him a guarantee that he could play for SKA.
