Three-time Olympic medalist, Honored Artistic Gymnastics Coach of the RSFSR Sergei Diomidov passed away at the age of 80. This was reported by press service Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR).
“FSGR extends its condolences to Diomidov’s family and friends. The message also stated that the farewell of Sergei Viktorovich Diomidov would be announced.
Demidov also won silver medals in the team events at the 1965 and 19968 Olympic Games. He is also the 1968 Olympic bronze medalist and the 1966 world champion in the straight bar.
In 1964, Diomidov became the first person in the world to perform a 360-degree spin with the shoulder back at the peak of the forward swing. From now on, this element was named after him.
