Former general director of Moscow Spartak Evgeny Melezhikov admitted that he does not believe in the direct involvement of Dutch forward Quincy Promes in drug trafficking. His words guide the way “Sports Express”.

“He has an uncle; either his cousin or his second cousin. Quincy lent him money without investigating what he was doing or what the money would be used for. Then they called each other several times, uncle asked Promes to bring the necessary supplies – T-shirts, scarves… The whole story,” said Melezhikov.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list.

On March 1, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Promes was detained in Dubai due to an accident. Promes fled the scene of the accident, hoping no one would notice. Later, while the football player was going through passport control to fly from the UAE to Russia, he was detained by local law enforcement and placed under house arrest. His trial has not yet taken place.
