Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov said the following in an interview with: VK VideoThe Irishman says he will not take the life of Conor McGregor in their 2018 fight.
“We both knew what we were getting into, it’s not easy to meet someone on the street and start choking them. He is one of the best fighters in this world. A fight was planned for us six months in advance and we went out and found out who was better.
Of course not to death. Would I kill him? I don’t think I’ll kill him, but before he loses consciousness, that’s for sure. Could I control this moment? We will never know this again. I don’t know how long I would keep it. That’s a good question,” Nurmagomedov said.
The fight between McGregor and Khabib took place in the fall of 2018. For Nurmagomedov, this was the first defense of the UFC championship belt. The Russians won by choke in the fourth round.
Khabib has had 29 fights in MMA and won every one of them. His last fight was in the fall of 2020, defeating American Justin Gaethje. Immediately after the fight, he announced that he had promised his mother that he would not fight without his father and that he was retiring from his professional career.
Formerly president of UFC statedPutin gave Khabib real estate worth $20 million.
