Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Slutskaya in an interview Alla Shishkina’s YouTube channel “Thirsty” I was thinking about whether the Russians should go to the Games in Paris.

“These are the only competitions they say: represent the Russian Federation (“represents the Russian Federation” – English). How beautiful that sounds! Why are Russian athletes deprived of this… It’s a shame. Now they will bomb me again but I need to compete in the Games if possible. No matter what anyone says, we recognize our heroes from their eyes. We support them and we know that they represent the Russian Federation,” said Slutskaya.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

The IOC said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated conditions of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their disciplines will be allowed to compete.

Previously Lavrov accused IOC President for betraying the ideals of Olympism.
