Liverpool won the League Cup for the 10th time, a tournament record. The club had previously won the championship in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, 2001, 2003, 2012 and 2022. The closest follower is Manchester City (eight wins). Chelsea have won the tournament five times.
Jürgen Klopp’s men are in first place in the English Premier League (EPL) with 60 points. Chelsea is in 11th place with 35 points.
In the next round of the English Championship, Liverpool will play away against Nottingham Forest and the Blues will play away against Brentford. Both meetings will take place on March 2.
