Stanislav Cherchesov, the former head coach of the Russian national football team, joked that he would choose the Argentine national team to continue his career. His words are quoted “Match TV”.
“Which club or team would you like to work with? You know, if I say someone’s name right now, I will read that I will work there tomorrow. The answer will be in Jewish: Even if it is the Argentine national team, they will definitely not invite me there,” said the expert.
Cherchesov started coaching the Russian national team in 2016. At his home World Cup, the team led by him managed to reach the quarter-finals, where they lost to the tournament’s finalists, the Croatian national team. He was fired after the team’s unsuccessful performance at the 2020 European Championship, held in the summer of 2021.
Cherchesov took over the leadership of Hungarian Ferencvaros at the end of December 2021. He led the team to victory in the championship and the National Cup. He was fired after being eliminated from Champions League qualification in July 2023.
