Russian boxer Magomed Kurbanov will challenge for the title of world champion according to the World Boxing Association (WBA), the Telegram channel reports RCC: MMA and Boxing.

Uzbekistan representative Israil Madrimov will fight against Kurbanov. The fight will take place on March 8, 2024, as part of a boxing night in Saudi Arabia. This belt is vacant – previous belt holder Jermell Challo changed his weight category.

“I will fight! They definitely didn’t believe it! Everything is ready now, I am ready, step on the gas!” – said Kurbanov.

Heavyweights Anthony Joshua and former Absolute Fighting Tournament champion Francis Ngannou will meet in the main event of the tournament.

Kurbanov has 25 professional fights, and all of them have been won by Russians. In his last current fight, Magomed won a unanimous decision against US representative Rafael Igbokwe, the fight took place in April 2023.
