Sportmaster PRO expert Sergey Sklizkov, in a conversation with socialbites.ca, told which style of skiing is best to choose at the beginning of mastering skiing.
“Classical movement lays the foundations of skiing, the foundations of balance and coordination. Therefore you need to start with it. Moreover, for skating, the body already needs to be ready for loads, and in this sense, the classics are more suitable for beginners,” said Sklizkov.
In the classic stroke, the skis glide parallel to each other. Thrust occurs when the skis stop moving. Thus, the skier is pushed from a fixed support.
While skating, the skis move alternately rather than parallel to each other. The athlete pushes off with one foot and in the process transfers his weight to the sliding leg. This is similar to the moves a speed skater makes on ice.
Expert Sklizkov emphasized that for a classic move the length of the skis must be 20cm longer than height person. At the same time, a complete set of skis, poles and boots can cost from 6-7 thousand rubles (the simplest) to 30 thousand rubles (more advanced).
It was previously announced two main dangers skiing.
