Leonard Nienhuis, former goalkeeper of Dutch clubs Groningen and Sparta, who is a guard in one of the prisons in Venhuizen, said that if Spartak player Quincy Promes enters this institution, he will be treated normally, like other convicts. Nienhuis quotes these words De Telegraaf.
“Do I dream of protecting Promes? Let’s say he is found, captured and sent to the Netherlands. If he goes to Venhuizen, he will be nothing but an ordinary prisoner to me. “He will not be given an orange jumpsuit, he will be treated normally,” he said.
Nienhuis said playing against Promes would not affect his attitude. “In any case, Promes knows that it is difficult to beat me,” he added.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. The Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list on 16 February.
Promes has been playing for Spartak since February 2021. This is his second time joining the team. He played for the red-whites between 2014-2018. The Dutch player became the Russian champion with the team in the 2016/17 season.
