National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals club forward Alexander Ovechkin recalled his meeting with former Manchester United and England national team player Wayne Rooney in Dubai. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“We accidentally bumped into Rooney in Dubai. We know him well from the time he played in Washington for DC United in MLS. He came to my birthday party. It’s nice to have friendly relations with such wonderful people,” said the hockey player.
As a player, Rooney played for DC United from 2018 to 2020. The striker spent most of his career at Manchester United (393 matches). He is a five-time English champion and won the Champions League with his club in 2008. He played for the England national team from 2003 to 2018.
This season, Ovechkin played in 49 games in the NHL and scored 14 goals and made 23 assists.
