Russian Milana Dadasheva and Ukrainian Oksana Livac refused to shake hands after the fight at the European Wrestling Championships in Bucharest these days.
The bronze medal fight at the continental championship ended with 28-year-old Dadasheva’s score of 17:15. The fight took place in the weight category up to 50 kilograms.
For Dadasheva, this bronze medal was the third in her professional career. Milana had previously finished third at the 2018 and 2020 European Championships.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, 2023, it was proposed to allow the Russians to remain in neutral status if the athletes are not actively involved in supporting military operations.
Previously Romania blocked entry into becoming a two-time Olympic champion in wrestling.
