Former Spartak player and famous coach Igor Shalimov spoke about the penalty given to red-white midfielder Quincy Promes in the Netherlands. In an interview “Match TV” The expert said that the court decision is not important in Russia.

“For me, the Amsterdam court is not indicative at all. Considering what’s going on in the world right now, these are nothing to me. And it wasn’t us who ruined this whole story. Should we now terminate the contract with Promes and send him to the Netherlands? Who will wash it now? Fans of other teams. Who else? Europe? I wouldn’t be surprised if he is acquitted within two years. They are nothing to me, as we are to them. So what kind of refund? What are we talking about? Even though Spartak needs him, he needs to be treated like a team player. I take this calmly,” said Shalimov.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. The striker is currently in the red-whites training camp in the UAE.

Promes has been playing for Spartak since February 2021. This is his second time joining the team. He played for the red-whites between 2014 and 2018. The Dutch player became the Russian champion with the team in the 2016/17 season.

The Dutch player played 17 matches (6+6) in the Russian Championship this season.

Previously recognizedWhether it is possible to extradite Promes to the Netherlands.
