Football manager Dmitry Selyuk called for changes to the Russian championship rules that would ban players involved in criminal cases from entering the field. His words are quoted Metatations.

“The RFU should add a clause to the regulations stating that football players should not have the right to play in the championship even during the investigation phase. And especially those who have been convicted. In principle, UEFA should make such a rule.

The arguments are bad because Spartak has a large army of fans and there are children there too. And they write: “Well done Promes, he threw a ton of cocaine.” But here they say it’s normal,” said Selyuk.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. The striker is currently in the red-whites training camp in the UAE.

Promes has been playing for Spartak since February 2021. This is his second time joining the team. He played for the red-whites between 2014 and 2018. The Dutch player became the Russian champion with the team in the 2016/17 season.

Apart from him, there are two other defendants in criminal cases in Russia: Dutchman Rai Vlut from Ural and Jordi Thompson, who has just arrived in Orenburg.
